About Kerry

I have IMDT (Institute of Modern Dog Trainers) qualifications and an Industry Accredited Dog and Behaviour Modification Trainer qualification. I set up my own business – Kerry’s Pawsitive Dog Training to help owners with their dogs to build a better relationship together. This was done as owners needed help in teaching not only basic manners and obedience training but for some they also needed behavior modification for their puppies and dogs. Home visits when needed along with group training and working with dogs had become my passion.

The Puppy pre-school classes I run to get owners and new puppy off on the right path which I have been running for 20 plus years now. Older dog classes have also been run by me for many years also.

Seeing that some puppies, or older dogs and the rescue dogs that have come into my classes have needed a bit more specialized help and support, I decided that I would also learn more on the behaviour of dogs so that I can offer another service to owners that needed more than a class could offer.

I often attend interstate and also as many local seminars to ensure that I not only improve my own personal development, but that I am up to date with the current industry information to provide to my clients.

The success to training and helping owners and their dogs with the problems they experience means  that I need to be able to implement teaching the steps to building a strong positive relationship, and communicate in a language that the dog understands. This is why I promote and advocate positive reward based training methods.

Seeing that there were some puppies, older dogs and some of the rescue dogs that have come into my classes have needed a bit more specialized help and support, I decided that I would also learn more on the behaviour of dogs so that I can offer another service to these people.

I moved to Perth  in 1995 with my two Rottweilers from Geelong in Victoria. Which then led me into the world of dogs here in Perth.

This was the start of not only my obedience competition days, it also got me on the way to wanting to be a dog trainer and starting my own dog training business.

I have been  an instructor with Northern Suburbs Dog Training Club. Then moved onto being  a trainer with the Joondalup Dog Club, doing obedience and agility  and I also became the Head Trainer/Secretary with Perth Dog Training Club.

My achievements in the world of competition trialing led me to want to know more about dog training and positive ways to get dogs to be more well behaved.

Currently I share my life with Drift the Rottweiler & Skittles the rescued cat.   All of the dogs, that have been a part of my life and journey, with them being Rottweilers  and  my Alaskan Malamute have taught me so much and been instrumental in my journey as well.

They were all very special in their own way and will never be forgotten and important in many ways to me. Without them I would not be where I am today.

I hope that after reading this and the testimonials, if you are having any issues or want to know more you will contact me.

My beautiful Alaskan Malamute – Echo came to live with me when he was in need of a home at 14 weeks of age. Before he retired from competition he also gained his CDX and started his UD trials as well as being a happy and somewhat challenging dog in Agility where he gained his Jumping Dog title and only needed one more pass for his AD title. He is now at the Rainbow Bridge.
